Malabar Black Pepper: The King of Spices

The foundation of Kerala's spice legacy. Our heirloom Malabar peppercorns are harvested from ancient vines that climb the forest canopy, nourished by the region's unique microclimate.

Unlike common black pepper, ours delivers a complex flavor profile with fruity undertones and a slow-building heat that lingers on the palate. Each peppercorn is hand-picked at peak ripeness, sun-dried, and vacuum-sealed within days to preserve its essential oils and aromatic compounds.

Chef's Tip

Crush these peppercorns just before use to experience their full aroma. Perfect for Kerala beef fry, cacio e pepe, or as a finishing touch on ripe strawberries with balsamic glaze.

Our Journey

The Guardians of Flavor

For centuries, Kerala has been the heart of the global spice trade, its unique microclimate producing botanicals with unparalleled depth and complexity.

Malabar Treasures began as an act of preservation. When we discovered that the heirloom varieties of our childhood were disappearing, replaced by high-yield, lower-quality alternatives, we knew we had to act.

Working directly with small-scale farmers across Kerala's Wayanad and Idukki districts, we've created a sanctuary for these treasured varietals.

"When you taste our spices, you're experiencing Kerala's living heritage—a flavor unchanged for centuries."

From Harvest to Your Kitchen

Unlike mass-produced spices that change hands dozens of times before reaching you, our spices follow a direct path from farmer to your table.

1

Small-Scale Harvest

Our partner farmers hand-pick each spice at peak ripeness, when essential oils are most concentrated.

2

Traditional Processing

Spices are processed within hours using traditional methods that preserve their complex flavor profiles.

3

Small-Batch Packaging

Vacuum-sealed in small batches to lock in freshness, unlike commercial spices that may sit in warehouses for years.

4

Direct to Your Kitchen

No middlemen, no months in transit. Your spices arrive at peak freshness, often within weeks of harvest.
